The tool is designed to measure internal bore and bend radii of pipelines with various diameters.
MFL ILI pigs employ strong magnets to magnetize the pipe wall. Positioned between these magnetic poles are tri-axial hall sensors which detect flux leakage resulting from irregularities. Changes in flux measurements reveal anomalies, while the quantity of flux leakage determines the exact dimensions—length, width, and depth—of these anomalies. This process ensures precise identification and detection of various issues like corrosion, pitting, erosion, lamination, gouging, cracking, and other forms of metal loss anomalies.
